Tutorial Assignment #10

10.01: GEM-Based Image-Processing Patch

Patch allows user manipulation/application of some GEM-based image-processing tools, displaying a 2 x 2 matrix of images, initially identical but each dedicated to illustration of a single GEM-based image-processing tool:

(1) Image 1 (upper left corner) is maintained as the “orginal” image; (2) Image 2 (upper right) illustrates the implementation of the pix_a_2grey tool; (3) Image 3 (bottom left) illustrates the implementation of the pix_2grey tool; and (4) Image 4 illustrates the pix_gain tool, the coolest of them all to play with.

A screenshot of the patch and an example GEM display window are shown below:

10.02: GEM-Based Color-Swapping Animation

Patch produces a GEM-based color-swapping animation of a fractal image borrowed from the GEM examples. We sometimes used such color-swapping animation techniques long ago in my graduate school days.

10.03: GEM-Based Image-Processing Using Convolution Matrices

Patch produces produces a 2 x 2 array initially identical color .pngs, one of which is maintained as the “original”, and each of the others is linked to a specific user-manipulable convolution or family of convolutions to applied using the GEM-based convolution tool.
